HYDERABAD: More than 80,000 law enforcement officers, 2 lakh staff will be deployed for Telangana State Assembly elections in 2023, said Telangana Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Vikas Raj on Sunday.

According to Vikas Raj, 45,000 state police officers, 3,000 other departments, 50 Telangana state special police (TSSP) companies, 375 Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) companies, and 23,500 home guards from neighbouring states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Chattisgarh would be deployed across the state during the elections.

There would be 1,866 squads and 2,08,000 personnel deployed during the elections. A total of 1,020 FIRs filed after the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) came into effect.

The elections would feature 2,290 candidates, including 2,068 men, 221 women, and one transgender person. The commission has set up 49 counting centres, including 31 districts, four in Rangareddy, and 14 in Hyderabad.
