HYDERABAD: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy who is one of the leading contenders to be nominated as the Chief Minister of the State has thanked the people of Telangana for giving a favourable mandate to the grand old party.

Addressing a media conference in Gandhi Bhavan on Sunday, Revanth said, "Pragathi Bhavan will be rechristened as Dr Ambedkar's Praja Bhavan and will be accessible to the common man."

Paying his tributes to Telangana martyrs, Revanth said, "It was on December 3, 2009, that Srikanth Chary became a martyr in the fight for Telangana Statehood. On December 3, 2023, four crore people of Telangana have blessed him and upheld democracy by voting for the Congress."

Revanth also thanked his party colleagues and the Congress high command for a resounding victory in Telangana.

"I thank Sonia Gandhi and the people of Telangana. We will fight for the people. I thank Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, friend Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and senior leaders like V Hanumantha Rao, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy and Madhu Yashki Goud for the victory.

"This victory is a tribute to Telangana martyrs and the poor. The Congress party will stand with them and stick to its promises including implementation of its six guarantees. I thank the CPI for standing with us along with Telangana Jana Samithi president Prof Kodandaram and the CPM," Revanth said.

Thanking Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) for his post of social media platform X, Revanth said, "I thank KTR who welcomed us. I hope he and his party show the same spirit while being in the opposition. My request to the BRS is to uphold the people's mandate. I invite them to come forward and play the role of opposition positively."
