Youth, accomplices arrested for rape, murder of girlfriend in Nalgonda
Nalgonda police arrest youth, his uncle, and mother for raping and murdering a 19-year-old woman, staging it as suicide.
HYDERABAD: Nalgonda police have arrested a man, his uncle, and his mother for the rape and murder of a 19-year-old woman in Damarcherla mandal.
The accused, identified as 22-year-old Roopavath Nagu Nayak from Puttagadda Tanda, had been in a relationship with the victim for the past two years.
According to police reports, the woman had become pregnant two years ago, but Nagu's family refused to agree to the marriage. Following this, the victim filed a case under the POCSO Act with the Wadapally police a year and a half ago. Despite the case, Nagu continued to stay in touch with the victim, promising to marry her after she reached legal age. He allegedly impregnated her again and forced her to undergo two abortions, after which he stopped contacting her.
On September 14, the victim visited Nagu's home, seeking a resolution regarding the marriage. Nagu’s mother, holding a grudge against the woman for filing a case against her son, allegedly conspired with Nagu and his uncle to kill her. They lured the woman outside the village under the pretence of discussing marriage, where Nagu and his uncle raped her, strangled her to death, and then staged the scene as a suicide by hanging her from a tree.
Nagu's mother stood guard during the incident to ensure no one witnessed the crime. Upon discovering the woman's body, police launched an investigation, which revealed the truth behind the staged suicide. Nagu, his uncle, and his mother were arrested and are currently in police custody. Further investigation is ongoing.
