Hyderabad Police Commissioner emphasises daily exercise for health, flags off Hyderabad Marathon
Commissioner K Srinivas Reddy highlights rising health issues among youth and growing post-COVID fitness awareness.
HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Police Commissioner K Srinivas Reddy stressed the importance of daily exercise for maintaining good health, stating that people had become more health-conscious post-COVID-19. He noted that young people were now facing health issues that were previously seen only in those aged 60 or 70.
The Commissioner made these remarks while flagging off the 13th edition of the NMDC Marathon, organised by the Hyderabad Runners Society. The marathon, starting from People's Plaza on Necklace Road and concluding at Gachibowli Stadium, aimed to raise awareness about fitness.
Srinivas Reddy highlighted that the annual marathon was the second-largest in India and had grown into a significant event promoting health and fitness. He also mentioned that runners from various countries participated in this year's marathon.
In light of the marathon, Hyderabad police implemented traffic diversions throughout the city. The full marathon, covering a distance of 42 kilometers, began at People's Plaza and passed through key locations including Jubilee Hills, Road No. 45, Cable Bridge, ITC Kohinoor, Knowledge City, My Home Abhra, IKEA Rotary, Transco, Biodiversity Junction, Telecom Nagar, Gachibowli Flyover, Indiranagar, IIIT Junction, Gachibowli Stadium, and HCU Campus Gate No. 2, before finishing at Gachibowli Stadium.
