AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday refused to be drawn into the speculation that his party would be joining the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) again at the Centre.

Speaking to the media here, he remained evasive on the issue and said that it could be answered by only those who had been publicising the matter. He also made it clear that he would not be responding on it at this time.

"In the past, we came out of the NDA government, purely for the interests of the state. Even now, we will view central politics only from the perspective of the state's interests," he said.

Chandrababu claimed that the TDP had suffered twice in the past due to enhanced focus on governance. "We had lost a lot personally in our passion to keep the state's reputation on the highest pedestal," he commented.

The TDP chief also trained his guns against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy, saying that Andhra Pradesh had been suffering more due to Jagan than the injustice meted out to it as a result of state's bifurcation.

Claiming that it was the TDP that took the pioneering measures in ensuring people's welfare, Naidu promised that his party would double the welfare initiatives if it was voted back to power in the state.
