AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Government Advisor and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) General Secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on Thursday said that the YSRCP would strive for the reversal of bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. He said that it was the policy of his party to see both the Telugu states merged again into a unified Andhra Pradesh, if possible.

He said, "We understand that the history cannot be changed. However, the YSCRP would always stand for a united Andhra Pradesh. If there are pending issues we are ready to solve them. But we feel that the bifurcation was unnecessary. Jaganmohan Reddy and YSRCP will fight for unified States wherever we get a platform to speak. It has been eight years since the state was bifurcated. It cannot be reversed. It's like asking to merge Chennai to Andhra. Undavilli Aruna Kumar's words seemed meaningless and absurd. The bifurcation definitely happened and we accepted it, but we do not support it."

Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy made these sensational comments while speaking to the media here. His comments assume significance in the wake of reports that the State Government had given up on the issue of Andhra Pradesh bifurcation, as evident from its affidavit filed in the Supreme Court recently.

Ramakrishna Reddy, perhaps in a bid to counter the backlash in this regard, said that the YSRCP government would present its argument against AP's bifurcation strongly in connection with the petitions filed in courts. "We will make a strong case in the court and strive for the reunification of both the States," he claimed.

The Andhra Pradesh Government Advisor said that the YSRCP would always be against the bifurcation and that they would be the first to welcome a reunified Andhra Pradesh with Telangana. His comments also attain prominence amid speculation of possible early polls in both the Telugu states.
