Yet, the Congress, which was the darling of the masses in the state just 72 hours ago, has already ruffled too many proverbial feathers

Eh, I see, see (the onomatopoeic expression of AICC) what they are doing? Hold election today in Karnataka. Don’t be surprised if the BJP returns to power, without any doubt. The Congress can evoke disgust easily as opposed to any other party.

Even before people could celebrate the bonhomie with the new dispensation that has yet to assume charge, it’s gone.

As people of Karnataka began to write the spelling of honeymoon, their pens stopped as they wrote H.O.N.E…This reminds one of the legend of a poor zealot who had tried to taste and announce to the world how cyanide tasted — sweet or sour. He died after writing the letter 'S'.

Now they can, maybe in retrospect, offer 50 per cent discount to the taint of 40 per cent and make it 20, however much discomfited the BJP would be.

Whose face have the voters seen to elect the Congress, bitterly ousting the BJP? Is it a nondescript G Parameswara? Certainly, not.

Why does Congress float these surprise names of underdogs and dark horses? Is it to tease the warring winning horses ? Couldn’t it decide the horses for the courses even before the race began?

People who have been observing and used to the Congress-mark trickery would have been already been gripped by a sense of déjà vu.

The egregious act of sending observers and sealed covers has been as old as the grand old party is.

Not too long ago, when Y S Rajasekhara Reddy who had walked the hard path to get the party elected to power, the geriatric gene in the party didn’t let out his name to be the helmsman. He had to struggle within suppressing his anger, disgust, and irritation against the hideous act of playing hide and seek by the high command that had acted lowly.

As if it’s passing through the pangs of a pregnant to deliver the baby, finally, after 12 jokers in a pack of 13-card set of rummy staked their claim and the lone “ace” remained an inquisitive spectator, that the game was declared and YSR who aced the polls was named as the boss.

Now what? Is it Siddaramaiah or D K Shivakumar? The former is in a pole position, for he has been there and done that - and is ready for a last round as he had himself claimed. The latter who indeed sweated his blood to fight the polls, however, has several odds adding up against him.

The Congress, for any reasons veers towards him and names DK as it's choice, Praveen Sood new CBI Director and a known bête noire of DK Shivakumar, even before assuming charge, will commence “working from home”. Sood is the proverbial dark horse in a different race. He was the DGP of karnataka until the day before. The infamous ED’s shady acts will unveil themselves like a genie from Aladdin’s magic lamp.

All this, for obvious reasons. Thus, Siddarmaaiah it will be for now, in all likelihood.

And, DK will have to continue suffering from constipated stomach for a few years more. Eno’s fruit salt is the only solution for him.

Yet, the Congress, which was the darling of the masses in the state just 72 hours ago, has already ruffled too many proverbial feathers in the party and has begun to enrage people of Karnataka to hate it more than love it. For, it believes more in selection than election.
