Opposition is using floods as an excuse to play politics: Niranjan Reddy
He said that the opposition parties were using Kaleshwaram as a propaganda to defame the KCR-led government.
HYDERABAD: Telangana State Agriculture Minister Singireddy Niranjan Reddy said that the BJP and the Congress party are using the flood situation to play politics against the ruling TRS, on Saturday.
Speaking on the comments made by Revanth Reddy and others on the Kaleshwaram project, Niranjan Reddy said that leaders didn't have the basic understanding that pump houses were built next to rivers, so their flooding would be obvious. He said that the opposition parties were using Kaleshwaram as a propaganda to defame the KCR-led government.
He also said that Telangana BJP leaders were of no help to the state as the BJP-led central government was showing no signs of providing flood relief to the state. He said that the Centre only focused on Gujarat.
Niranjan Reddy said that the Centre was creating hurdles for the state, be it the purchase of grain, allocation of funds, nationalisation of Telangana's projects, allocation of universities and medical colleges to Telangana, etc. He also said that despite all this, the KCR government was implementing all the schemes promised.
He said that the TRS MLAs, Ministers and public representatives were working on the field to help the flood-affected people. Niranjan Reddy said that under the state government's 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme Rs 7,372.5 Cr had been sanctioned and was deposited in the bank accounts of 64.95 lakh farmers. The remaining funds were also being disbursed.
