HYDERABAD: A day after several senior leaders almost raised a banner of revolt against Revanth Reddy, the crisis within the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) deepened further on Sunday with 13 'recent entrants' into the party tendering their resignations. The move came a day after senior Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) leaders announced a 'Save Congress' campaign. In what is being viewed as a counter-offensive to the old guard of the party, 13 leaders, who joined the Congress from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), submitted their resignations. They sent their resignation letters to the party's Telangana incharge Manickam Tagore, fuelling the simmering infighting even further.

On Saturday, senior leaders of the TPCC including Jagga Reddy, MP N Uttam Kumar Reddy and Bhatti Vikramarka, said that TPCC President A Revanth Reddy was acting unfairly by giving positions to the newly joined members and that he was the sole reason for Congress' internal conflicts.

The leaders, who announced the 'Save Congress' campaign, also said that they would not be joining any Committee activities including the 'Haath me Haath' (Hand in Hand) meeting to be held on January 26, 2023. This meeting was announced by the All India Congress Committee (AICC) to discuss Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra outcomes and how the party would address people's issues.

The leaders, who sent their resignation letters to Manickam Tagore on Sunday include Vem Narender Reddy, Seethakka, Vijaya Ramana Rao and Charakonda Venkatesh. These leaders are known to be the loyalists of Revanth Reddy, who too quit the TDP and joined the Congress a few years back. In their letters, they expressed dissatisfaction over senior Congress leaders blaming them for not receiving positions.

The 13 leaders, in their letter addressed to Sonia Gandhi said that the Congress leadership had recognised their services and given them positions in the State executive. However, in view of the resentment expressed senior leaders at a meeting at the residence of Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, they thought it fit to resign from their positions in view of the urgency and unity of the party.

People were vexed with the KCR rule in the State , they said and added that they would work for the Congress party's victory.

Even as the infighting in the TPCC was threatening to turn into a cauldron, another senior leader Kunduru Jana Reddy chose to stay away from the controversy, at least out in the open. He said that he would not speak about the internal conflicts publicly. Jana Reddy also said that many such things had happened in the Congress party in the past and that these matters would be discussed and resolved internally.
