HYDERABAD: Congress leader Jagga Reddy said on Sunday that he would leave the Congress Party and asserted that Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee chief Revanth Reddy triggered this decision.

Jagga Reddy launched a tirade against Revanth Reddy when the latter passed remarks against former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president V Hanumantha Rao. Taking serious exception to Revanth Reddy's remarks on a very senior leader of VHR's stature, Jagga Reddy fumed against the TPCC chief.

"Revanth Reddy is taking arbitrary decisions which are causing disturbances in the party. Who is he to 'beat' anyone up? The Gandhi family was kind enough to let go of Rajiv Gandhi's assassins and Revanth, instead of following their legacy, is making stupid statements against his own party members. Revanth Reddy is taking arbitrary decisions which are causing disturbances in the party. If a political battle was to be fought, a plan must be in place. The person in charge of that fight should proceed with the plan after considering everyone's opinions."

Their dispute reached the Congress senior leaders in Delhi where it appeared to have been resolved. However, there were rumours that Jagga Reddy would join the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). However, he would take the final decision on Monday.

Many senior Congress leaders were aggrieved after Revanth Reddy threatened to 'beat up' any party members who opposed his decisions. Revanth made this statement after senior Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao met the opposition's Presidential Candidate Yashwant Sinha during his visit to Hyderabad despite him asking the party leaders to not meet him.

There were rumours earlier too that Jagga Reddy would leave the party. He changed his mind after Hanumantha Rao requested him to stay.
