Election Commission seizes cash, gold, liquor worth Rs. 37.07-Cr from October 9

HYDERABAD: The Chief Electoral Officer of Telangana revealed on Thursday that cash, gold and liquor worth Rs 37.07 crore were seized in four days from October 9 to 12, in compliance with the election model code of conduct.

Seizures included Rs. 20.43 in cash, Rs. 14.65 crore in gold, silver and diamonds, Rs. 86.92 lakh in liquor and Rs. 89 lakhs worth of Ganja, according to the Seizure, MCC and Law and Order report in connection with Elections to the State Legislature 2023.

Amongst the other items and freebies discovered during the vehicle checks in the last four days were Rs. 22.5 lakh worth 7,040 kgs of rice, 440 sarees, 80 sewing machines, 87 cookers and one vehicle.

So far, 1,196 cases were filed under the preventative provisions of the CrPC, specifically under sections 107, 108, 110, and 151 of the CrPC, 1973.

A total of 100 companies of the Central Armed Police Force were deployed to Telangana which would be submitting a detailed report by October 20, 2023.
