HYDERABAD: Former Minister and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao criticised the Congress Government for limiting the budget session to four days.

Speaking to the media at the Assembly premises after a Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting, Harish Rao pointed out that past sessions dedicated to budget discussions had spanned four to eight days. He criticised the government's intention to rush through the current session, allocating a mere two days for discussions on budget demands and aiming to complete discussions on 15 demands in a single day. He further alleged that the government planned to hold the budget discussion and provide a response on the same day, indicating a lack of transparency and a disregard for democratic processes.

"This government is not ready to discuss the election promises even in the Assembly," Harish Rao stated, highlighting the government's alleged disinterest in addressing key concerns. He contrasted the current situation with the Congress party's stance during the BRS tenure, where they had advocated for longer sessions.

Harish Rao revealed that the BRS had proposed a 15-day session and presented nine crucial issues for discussion, including unemployment, law and order, and farmer welfare. He emphasised the BRS party's demand for a discussion on the problems of unemployed youth, alleging that the Congress government had deceived them and was even resorting to filing false cases against them. He further criticised the government's handling of law and order, citing an increase in crimes and a sense of fear among the public.

The former minister also accused the government of backtracking on its promises, particularly regarding loan waivers for farmers and the implementation of welfare schemes. He highlighted the plight of farmers who were facing pressure from banks due to unpaid loans and criticised the government's inaction in fulfilling its promises. He demanded discussions on issues related to farmer welfare, including bonus on crops, the Rythu Bandhu scheme, and pending bills related to development programs.
