HYDERABAD: BRS Working President K Taraka Rama Rao demanded an unconditional apology from Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for failing to fulfil the promise of waiving farmers' loans.

KTR, in a tweet on Thursday, questioned the Congress government’s commitment to the loan waiver scheme, citing that farmers who approached banks for relief were met with confusion instead of support.

Referring to an incident in Kodad, KTR alleged that farmers holding protests to seek a Rs 1 lakh loan waiver were threatened with legal cases that would cost them nearly as much as the waiver itself. "Is this what you call Indiramma Rajyam? Is this the governance promised to the people?" KTR asked.

He criticised the government for treating farmers as hardened criminals only for demanding what was promised. KTR accused the Congress of arresting farmers who protested against the unfulfilled promises, further intensifying the discontent. He also called for the suspension of Kodad Rural CI Rajitha Reddy for allegedly mishandling the protests.

KTR urged the government to show respect to the hands that feed the state, asking the Chief Minister to honour his promises and provide justice to the aggrieved farmers.
