3 AP airports among 25 to be privatised by Centre between 2022-25

VIJAYAWADA: After going on a privatisation-spree in the ports sector, the Narendra Modi-led NDA government has set its sight on airports of the country. Three of Andhra Pradesh airports are destined to be privatised as part of a larger plan of the Centre. On Tuesday, Union Minister for Civil Aviation VK Singh announced in Rajya Sabha that it had been decided to privatise 25 airports in the country. These include Tirupati, Vijayawada and Rajahmundry airports in Andhra Pradesh.
Responding to a question about privatisation of airports, raised by Kareem, a CPI(M) member from Kerala, VK Singh said that a total of 25 airports in India would be privatised between 2022-2025 and that these three airports. He said that this was being done under the National Monetisation Pipeline Scheme.
