3 killed after lorry rams into Ganesh temple in Kakinada district
At least three persons were killed after a lorry carrying gravel wreaked havoc by ramming into a temple at A Kothapalli in Kakinada district
KAKINADA: At least three persons were killed after a lorry carrying gravel wreaked havoc by ramming into a temple at A Kothapalli in Thondangi mandal of Kakinada district in the early hours of Sunday. The deceased include the driver and the cleaner of the ill-fated lorry.
According to reports, the lorry, heading towards Ontimamidi from Annavaram with a gravel load, hit a water tank on the road side before ramming into adjacent Ganesh temple. All the three were killed on the spot in the mishap.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, a team of police personnel rushed to the spot. The deceased were identified as lorry driver Dhoti Shekhar (28) and cleaner Konuru Nagendra (23) belonging to Gajjanapudi village of Prattipadu Mandal while the other was Somu Lakshmana Rao (48), a local villager who was sleeping in the temple at that time.
A case has been registered by the police and an investigation is going on.
