RAJAHMUNDRY: Seven members of a family were killed and one sustained serious injuries when the car they were traveling in collided with a lorry from behind near Ananthapalli village in Nallajerla mandal of East Godavari district in the early hours of Monday.
According to reports, the deceased were identified as M Satyanarayana (46), M Ravi Teja (24), M Aruna (26), D Sravani (26), R Lakshmi (50), Lohith Gagan (8) and A Durga (50). All of them were natives of Valicheru in Atreyapuram mandal of East Godavari district. They were residing in Rajamahendravaram Prakash Nagar. They left for Rajahmundry from Vijayawada in their car after attending a marriage in Hyderabad before meeting with the accident near Ananthapalli.
Upon receiving the information about the incident, a team of police personnel rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations. Police, with the help of locals, shifted the injured to a hospital in Rajahmundry. The dead bodies were shifted to the Government Hospital in Rajahmundry for a post-mortem examination. A case has been registered and investigation is going on, the police said.
