AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu decided on Monday to rename the Health University in Vijayawada to NTR Health University.

During a press briefing, Kolusu Parthasarathy, Minister for Information and Public Relations and Housing, said, "Dr. NTR Health University was established in 1986 by the State Government. All medical departments were consolidated under one roof and named NTR University. Former Chief Minister YSR Rajashekhar Reddy approved this name in 2006. However, under the administration of YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the university was renamed Dr. YSR Health University.

"We have received numerous representations from doctors who graduated from the university, mentioning discrepancies in their marksheets—some bearing the name Dr. NTR Health University and others Dr. YSR Health University. Therefore, the AP cabinet has decided to revert the name to Dr. NTR Health University, " he added.
