AP CM Chandrababu meets PM Modi during Delhi visit
Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu meets PM Modi to discuss state funding, Polavaram, Amaravati, and other key issues.
DELHI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Monday as part of his two-day visit to the national capital.
Chandrababu departed from Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad at 1:30 PM via a special flight, and headed directly to meet the Prime Minister upon his arrival in Delhi.
The discussions between the two leaders, which lasted for about an hour, reportedly focused on key issues related to Andhra Pradesh, including funding for the Amaravati capital city project and the Polavaram irrigation project. Other topics on the agenda included the development of various roads within the state, the establishment of a new railway zone, and the proposed merger of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant with the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Chandrababu also sought central assistance for the recent flood victims in Andhra Pradesh, and discussions about fulfilling promises made during state bifurcation were also said to be on the table.
Following his meeting with the Prime Minister, the Chief Minister is scheduled to meet Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. On Tuesday, Chandrababu will meet Union Minister Nitin Gadkari at 11:30 AM, followed by a meeting with Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri in the evening. Later that night, at 8:00 PM, he is set to meet Home Minister Amit Shah, followed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at 11:15 PM.
During these meetings, Chandrababu is expected to discuss various ongoing projects in Andhra Pradesh, along with the release of central funds necessary for their completion. The focus remains on ensuring the state's infrastructure needs are met, along with fulfilling pending financial commitments from the Centre.
