AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh School Education Department has imposed a ban on the usage of mobile phones in schools for both students and teachers across the State.
A memo in this regard was issued by the officials on Monday. As per the memo, teachers were also instructed not to bring their mobile phones into the classrooms. Instead, the teachers were advised to hand over their mobile phones to the principal before going to the classrooms.
The officials said that the decision to impose a ban on mobile phones in schools was taken based on the Global Education Monitoring Report released by UNESCO to prevent any disruption to teaching and help protect children from cyberbullying. The same was discussed with the teachers' union leaders before issuing a memo, the officials said.
In case of any violations by the teachers, disciplinary action would be taken against them. School principals and higher officials were directed to ensure that these regulations were strictly implemented in all schools across Andhra Pradesh.
