AP Government renames welfare schemes, Removes 'Jagan' and 'YSR' prefixes
Four schemes had 'Jagan' and 'YSR' prefixes. After renaming, one will have 'Chandranna' and another 'NTR' prefixes.
AMARAVATI: The Andhra Pradesh Government, led by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has renamed six welfare schemes implemented in the Social Welfare Department.
Four of the six schemes, which were in effect from 2019-2024, had the prefix 'Jagan' after the then Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, and two schemes had the 'YSR' prefix after former Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy, Jagan's late father.
The renamed schemes are as follows: Jagananna Vidya Deevena is now Post Matric Scholarships (RTF), Jagananna Vasathi Deevena is now Post Matric Scholarships (MTF), Jagananna Videshi Vidya Deevena (for SCs) is now Ambedkar Overseas Vidya Nidhi (AOVN), YSR Kalyana Masthu is now Chandranna Pelli Kanuka, YSR Vidyonnathi is now NTR Vidyonnathi, and Jagananna Civil Services Protsahakam (JCSP) is now Incentives for Civil Services Examination.
The prefix 'Chandranna' refers to the current Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, while 'NTR' refers to the Telugu Desam Party founder and former Chief Minister.
