AP Govt declares action plan to restart 203 Anna canteens by September 21
The TDP Government has directed the commissioners to examine the current condition of the canteens, which were opened in 2019, and take steps to bring them into use.
AMARAVATI: Following the decision of Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to revive 184 existing Anna canteens and complete the remaining 19 by September 21, a 100-day action plan was declared to revive 203 Anna Canteens here on Saturday.
A committee was formed under the Commissioners of Municipal Corporations and Municipal Corporations as well as Public Health and Urban Planning Department officials. The TDP Government has directed the commissioners to examine the current condition of the canteens, which were opened in 2019, and take steps to bring them into use.
Of the 203 canteens sanctioned earlier, 184 have been completed. The government has suggested calling tenders for the completion of the remaining construction works as per the old design.
June 15: Urban Local Bodies Commissioners to inspect the canteens in their jurisdiction and make a preliminary report on the latest condition of the building, furniture, IoT (Internet of Things) devices and other requirements.
June 19: Commissioners along with municipal engineers and urban planning department officials should prepare estimates for the construction work as per the old design for the restoration of canteens.
June 30: Commissioners, along with local public representatives, will have to select sites to take up new works for the canteens that are yet to be constructed. Ward secretariats being run in canteens should be vacated and alternative buildings should be constructed for them.
July 30: Agencies to supply breakfast, lunch and dinner to canteens will be finalised. Organisations should be finalised for software, for mobilisation of IoT devices, monitoring of canteens, smart billing and donation management.
August 10: Agreements with agencies for construction of canteen buildings, new equipment, software integration and other infrastructure will have to be approved by the government.
August 15: Tenders for the construction of the remaining canteen buildings should be called and an agreement should be made with the contractor companies. All utilities (water, electricity, internet) are included.
September 21: 203 canteens in urban and municipal bodies to be opened by September 21.
