AP’s SDC server down: Internet, IT services hit across state

AMARAVATI: Internet and Information Technology (IT) services across Andhra Pradesh were affected since Tuesday morning after the server of the State Data Centre (SDC) went down due to unspecified technical glitches.

As a result, the face recognition devices, a part of the employees attendance app, became ineffective across the State Secretariat, Assembly and in all other key administrative offices. Several other web-based services also suffered interruptions due to the SDC server issues. According to some reports, the unexpected technical trouble has brought daily work to a grinding halt at several offices across the state.

In a cascading effect, various digital and online services offered to the public were also severely hit across the state. It was not immediately clear what brought the server down and what were the efforts being made by the authorities concerned to rectify the glitches and restore services.
