APSRTC allocates 5,458 buses for election personnel, runs 1,066 buses from Hyderabad
APSRTC has arranged 5,458 buses for the transportation of election personnel and equipment for the simultaneous elections scheduled for May, 13.
VIJAYAWADA: APSRTC has arranged 5,458 buses for the transportation of election personnel and equipment for the simultaneous elections scheduled for May, 13. These are about 55 percent of the APSRTC’s scheduled buses.
APSRTC managing director Ch. Dwaraka Tirumala Rao on Sunday informed that the corporation also operated 1,066 special buses from Hyderabad and 284 special buses from Bangalore from May 8 to 12 in addition to daily services running without any hassle for passengers coming from neighboring states to vote in various parts of Andhra Pradesh.
Special buses had been plying from Vijayawada to Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Tirupati, Nellore, Kakinada, Eluru, Ongole, Guntur, and other prominent destinations depending on the traffic.
Apart from this, due to the high number of passengers coming from Hyderabad to Vijayawada, some special buses were operated depending on the traffic.
The officials of the respective districts were directed to monitor the situation in bus stations and to arrange special buses as per the need.
The MD said that if anywhere around 30 to 40 passengers were made to wait for a bus to the same destination, they could contact the election cell number 9959111281 in the APSRTC central office, the information would be conveyed to the officials of the respective districts and special buses will be arranged.
