AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of desecrating the sanctity of Tirumala during its five-year rule.

Speaking to the media from his residence in Undavalli, Chandrababu Naidu criticised the ruling party for neglecting established regulations governing Tirumala temple administration and turning the sacred site into a political rehabilitation centre.

Chandrababu Naidu alleged that the appointment of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) board members was done arbitrarily, favouring unqualified individuals. He also raised concerns over the use of adulterated ghee in the preparation of Tirumala laddus, which he claimed hurt the sentiments of devotees. He further warned that those responsible for tarnishing the temple's sanctity would not be spared.

The Chief Minister emphasised that no previous administration had dared to damage the purity of Tirumala, but the YSRCP government had done so. He assured that his party was working to rectify the mistakes made by the ruling party and restore order to the system. He also criticised YSRCP leaders, accusing them of habitual wrongdoings and resorting to counter-attacks to evade accountability.

Chandrababu Naidu stated that his party had initiated the cleansing process at Tirumala as soon as they came to power, with a focus on ensuring that the sacred chants of "Govinda" reverberated through the temple.
