HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a special relief package to support victims of the recent floods and heavy rains across the state.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu outlined the details of the package, offering financial aid to families, small traders, and various other affected groups.

In a statement, the Chief Minister announced that families whose houses were completely damaged by the floods in Vijayawada would receive Rs 25,000, while those living on the first floors of flooded buildings would be provided Rs 10,000. Families whose houses were partially submerged in water will also receive Rs 10,000 in compensation. Additionally, small traders affected by the floods will be given Rs 25,000 in assistance.

Weavers impacted by the disaster will receive Rs 15,000, while those who lost their looms will receive Rs 25,000. Fishermen will receive Rs 9,000 for partially damaged fishing nets and Rs 20,000 for those who lost their boats entirely.

The Chief Minister also addressed insurance claims related to vehicle damages, stating that over 9,000 claims had been submitted, with Rs 71 crore worth of claims for two-wheelers alone. Of this, Rs 6 crore had already been disbursed, with an additional 6,000 claims pending. He further announced a Rs 10,000 aid for auto-rickshaw owners.

For Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), businesses with an annual turnover of Rs 40 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore will receive Rs 1 lakh, while those with a turnover exceeding Rs 1.5 crore will be given Rs 1.5 lakh in financial support.
