Chandrababu Naidu inaugurates CRDA office work, resumes Amaravati capital construction
Chandrababu Naidu restarts Amaravati capital construction, inaugurating CRDA office works after YCP halted them in 2019.
AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu inaugurated the construction of the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) office at Uddandarayunipalem in Thullur Mandal on Saturday, marking the resumption of the long-delayed Amaravati capital works.
The CRDA office construction, initially launched in 2017 with a budget of Rs 160 crore, was halted in 2019 after the YCP government took charge.
During the event, Naidu emphasised the significance of Amaravati as the state's capital, recalling how 54,000 acres of land were voluntarily contributed by farmers. He praised the farmers, women, and residents who supported the Amaravati movement for five years, resisting attempts to shift the capital. Naidu criticised the YCP government for creating obstacles and delaying Amaravati's development.
Naidu reaffirmed his election commitment, stating that Amaravati would remain the capital without any changes. He announced that Visakhapatnam will become the financial hub and Kurnool will host a High Court bench and new industries. He also revealed plans to construct a 180-kilometre ring road around Amaravati and provide all necessary infrastructure for the capital city.
The inauguration was attended by Minister Narayana, MLAs, officials, and a large number of locals.
