AMARAVATI: TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu will be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh on May 12 (Saturday). Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to attend the event.

Earlier, it was reported that the oath would be taken on the 9th of this month, but as the Union Cabinet will be sworn in at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in Delhi on September 9, the Chief Minister’s oath-taking has been postponed to 12.

Telugu Desam Party’s events committee was entrusted with the task of identifying a suitable place for the oath-taking ceremony. The TDP sources said that they were looking for a place close to the highway to avoid overcrowding at the parking places. The committee members are also looking for a place inside the capital region where arrangements will be made for the ceremony.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up near Chandrababu's house at Undavalli and two ASPs are supervising the security. Newly elected MPs, MLAs, and officials are making a beeline to meet Naidu.

Chandrababu Naidu will be the first Telugu Chief Minister to have been sworn in for a fourth term. This is a record. TDP founder NTR was sworn in four times . But that is not four terms.

  • First election 1983,
  • After reinstatement following dismissal - 1984,
  • After winning midterm polls - 1985,
  • After winning the general election- 1994.
