AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has assured the public that all concerns of flood victims would be addressed promptly, regardless of the cost. He urged citizens to demand and collect the essential relief kits provided by the government, emphasising door-to-door delivery despite the challenges.

The Chief Minister disclosed that a long-term solution for the Budameru river was in progress, with the government's focus on minimising the number of affected individuals, not on the expenses involved. He announced that a preliminary report estimating Rs 6,880 crore in damages had been submitted to the central government. Chandrababu also warned of strict action against those attempting to misuse relief efforts, stating, “If anyone cheats, grab their collar, I will take care of it.”

Citizens were encouraged to demand the essential kits if they had not yet received them. According to the CM, 75% of people preferred door-to-door distribution, which the government aims to complete within the next two days. Furthermore, the government plans to partner with Urban Company to ensure essential services, such as repairs, are provided by skilled professionals at subsidised rates.

During his field visits, the Chief Minister observed numerous requests for employment. In response, he promised both physical and virtual job opportunities, with training for various sectors starting the next day. He also assured that issues related to insurance claims would be resolved within a week.

Chandrababu strongly criticised the YSRCP for spreading false propaganda regarding the flood relief efforts and alleged that anti-social elements were attempting to disrupt aid distribution. He expressed suspicion over boats found near the barrage, hinting at potential foul play.

In addition, the Chief Minister condemned rumours circulating on social media, including baseless claims about withdrawing support from the central government and ministerial resignations. He warned that those responsible for spreading such misinformation would face strict action.

Addressing the ongoing Budameru issue, Chandrababu confirmed that breaches in the river were repaired, preventing further flooding. He blamed the previous administration for historical errors that led to these breaches, criticising their failure to utilise allocated funds for repairs.

He also raised concerns about areas still submerged in water, notably Rajarajeshwari Peta, where water levels remain high and food supplies inadequate. With more rain expected in the coming days, the government is taking all necessary precautions, with one TMC of water still present in the city.
