VIJAYAWADA: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Court extends the remand of former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu up to September 24,2023.

The ACB court judge interacted with Naidu, who was lodged in Rajahmundry Central Prison, through a video conference. He said he’s jailed for no reason and that people across India and the State know about him for the last four-and-a-half decades. Naidu says he’s put behind bars due to political vendetta. The judge asked him if he’s facing any difficulties in the prison. She asked for a report about the facilities in the prison from officials.

The ACB court told Naidu that judicial remand was not a punishment and he was just facing charges and he’s not pronounced guilty. He could prove he’s innocent during the probe. The judge said that he could present his arguments and disprove the charges. Naidu wanted to talk further. The judge said that she would resume after 10 minutes.

Naidu appealed to the judge to protect his rights and informed her that he was subjected to mental agony. The judge informed him that his lawyers had argued that the CID custody was not needed, but the CID lawyers argued that information had to be established and hence the need for questioning. Naidu told the court that he was arrested without serving a notice. He should have been arrested if she was found guilty after a probe.
