Chandrababu recalls NTR’s first day in govt, credits TDP for AP’s welfare
Chandrababu Naidu said that the day NT Rama Rao formed his government for the first time in the State was a historic day for the Telugu-speaking people across the globe
AMARAVATI: Former chief minister and Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president, N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday said that the day N T Rama Rao formed his government for the first time in the State was a historic day for the Telugu-speaking people across the globe.
In a press release commemorating 40 years of TDP since the first day of NTR’s government, Chandrababu Naidu said that revolutionary changes were brought about in the lives of the Telugu people, both economically and politically, only after the legendary actor-turned-politician came to power. The journey of the lives of the Telugu people is now being viewed as before and after the TDP formation, said Chandrababu.
“The late N T Rama Rao, who personally witnessed the barbarous political situation in the State and the untold hardships that the public was facing, floated the TDP only to ensure that a poverty-free society was formed and came to power within nine months,” said Naidu.
The TDP chief said, “The entire credit of introducing revolutionary schemes in society lays upon the TDP. Welfare schemes like Rs 2-a-kg rice scheme, single window system, rights for women in property, pucca houses for the poor and old-age pensions. It is the TDP that established separate educational institutions for women like Padmavati University and created reservations for women in education and employment.
The Backward Classes (BCs), who form 50 per cent of the population, could progress in politics only with the encouragement given by the TDP. Better education facilities were created for the downtrodden sections of society by setting up more engineering colleges, schools and other educational institutions, said Naidu. "As NTR tried to uphold the dignity and self-respect among the Telugus, I tried my best to increase the self-confidence among them," he added.
Claiming that the TDP would lead the movement to save the State from bad rulers, Chandrababu Naidu gave a call to all the party leaders and activists to work hard to rebuild the State to achieve the goals of the Late NT Rama Rao.
