ANANTAPUR: In a major pre-election announcement, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge unveiled the party's manifesto guarantee for Andhra Pradesh. The scheme titled 'Indiramma Abhayam', promises a monthly Rs 5,000 fund to every poor family in the State.

Kharge, alongside APCC president YS Sharmila, announced the programme during the Congress party's inaugural election meeting, 'Nyaya Sadhana Sabha' held in Anantapur on Monday. A large check displaying the campaign promise, signed by Sharmila, was presented at the event.

Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi for perceived neglect of Andhra Pradesh since its bifurcation, Kharge pledged that the Congress party will persistently advocate for full justice in the form of Special Category Status (SCS) for the State.

Kharge reminisced about the development strides witnessed under the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy's tenure as Chief Minister. He emphasized that the Congress party aimed to replicate this progress under the leadership of Sharmila, the daughter of the former Chief Minister. He highlighted the united support of Congress leaders, party workers, and the public for Sharmila.

Addressing the current political landscape in Andhra Pradesh, Kharge alleged that there was little difference between the YSRCP, the TDP, JSP. He accused all the three parties of supporting and aligning with Modi.

Kharge criticised the lack of substantial support from the BJP towards Andhra Pradesh over the past decade. He pointed out that the Central Government hadn't fulfilled promises like granting SCS or allocating funds for irrigation projects, yet the three State-level parties continue to "bow down" to Modi. He expressed his surprise at their behaviour.

Kharge urged the public to vote for the Congress party in both the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections. He emphasised the reliability of the Indiramma Abhayam scheme, contrasting it with unfulfilled promises made by Modi.
