Constable turns hero; jumps into lake to save seven family members

VIJAYAWADA: An Armed Reserve (AR) constable turned out to be a hero after he saved a family from drowning on Sunday. As many as seven people from a family hailing from Sivakodu village in Razole mandal of Konaseema district travelled to Rajamahendravaram on Sunday in their car to attend a function.
On their way back, the driver lost control of the car which collided with a motorcycle at at Bellampudi in P.Gannavaram mandal. Due to the impact, the car plunged into a lake.

Nelli Srinivas, working as an AR constable in the SP office of East Godavari district, was passing through the route at the same time. He immediately jumped into the lake, opened the car doors and pulled out each of the seven victims one by one. The victims Kasukurthi Bhaskara Sudhir kumar, his wife K Sindhu, children Bhanu and Jayanshu, mother K Parvathi, aunt Bikkina Suryakantham and uncle Subbarayudu, were rescued. Srinivas was assisted by a volunteer Laxman along with other locals. Constable Srinivas was congratulated by YSRCP MLA K Chittibabu for his brave act.
