AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has called for an end to the tradition of touching the feet of superiors or leaders as a sign of respect.

In an informal chat with the media, Naidu stated that the practice should be abandoned. He went on to explain that he would reciprocate the gesture if someone touched his feet. "If someone touches my feet, I will touch their feet," he said. He emphasised that parents and God are the only ones deserving of such reverence.

The Chief Minister urged everyone to maintain their dignity and refrain from the practice. "Let no one lower their dignity by touching the feet of others," he said.

Chandrababu Naidu said he would be the first to implement this change, hoping it would set an example for others to follow.
