VIJAYAWADA: Dr K S Jawahar Reddy, an IAS officer from the 1990 batch, was appointed as the new Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.
He will assume charge as chief secretary on December 1. Dr Sameer Sharma, the outgoing chief secretary, will be retiring from service on November 30, 2022.
Dr Reddy is a senior officer of the Indian Administrative Service (1990 batch) who is currently serving as the Special Chief Secretary to the Government, Water Resources Department. He also worked as the Executive Officer of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) from October 2020 to February 2022.
He previously held various policy-making and policy-implementation positions with the state and Central governments. Jawahar Reddy was elevated to the rank of Special Chief Secretary on February 28, 2022.
