DWCRA women protest at Union Bank against misappropriation of Rs 1 cr funds

ELURU: DWCRA women, along with Nuzividu MLA Pratap Apparao, have protested against the Union Bank of India in Eluru, alleging that funds belonging to women were embezzled by the bank's Business Correspondent.
The women from Sagguru, Narshingapalem, and Totapalli villages in Agiripalli Mandal, Eluru district, discovered that approximately Rs. 1.10 crore had been misappropriated by the bank staff and staged a protest at the Union Bank of India in Eluru, with MLA Pratap Apparao.
Meanwhile, the bank's Assistant General Manager Harish had held talks with MLA Pratap Apparao where it was confirmed that over Rs. 1 crore of DWCRA women's funds had been embezzled. The bank authorities gave a written assurance that the money would be deposited into the women's accounts within 10 days.
The police were deployed at the bank as a large number of women gathered to voice their concerns and demand justice.
