VIJAYAWADA: Inflows at the Prakasam Barrage in Vijayawada are surging following the opening of gates at Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar, and Pulichintala projects. With the River Krishna in spate, authorities have lifted 40 gates of the barrage by six feet and another 30 gates by seven feet, releasing 2,74,200 cusecs of water downstream.

As a precautionary measure, officials have warned people living in low-lying areas to remain vigilant. The current inflow at the barrage is recorded at 2,88,191 cusecs, with 13,991 cusecs released into canals.

The Tammileru reservoir in Chintalapudi Mandal's Nagireddygudem is also witnessing heavy inflows, reaching 5,256 cusecs. The outflow is recorded at 5,688 cusecs. The reservoir's water level stands at 349.49 feet against its full capacity of 355 feet.

Meanwhile, the Errakalva reservoir in Jangareddygudem Konguvarigudem of Eluru district is also experiencing a surge in inflow. The water level has reached 82.30 meters, nearing its full capacity of 83.50 meters. With an inflow of 6,000 cusecs, authorities are releasing 6,500 cusecs of water downstream by opening four gates of the project.
