GUNTUR: Former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy visited Guntur on Wednesday to console the family of Sahana, who tragically lost her life after being attacked by a stalker.

Jagan arrived at the Guntur Government General Hospital (GGH) from Tadepalli, where he first paid respects to Sahana's body in the mortuary before meeting with her grieving family.

During his visit, Jagan expressed his sorrow over the incident, pointing to a deterioration in law and order in the state. He lamented that a Dalit woman had become a victim of such violence and criticised the lack of immediate action by the authorities.

Jagan highlighted that there were injuries on Sahana's body and stated that, under YSRCP rule, the government had worked to provide safety and security for women, including introducing the Disha App for their protection. However, he expressed disappointment at the state's response to the incident, noting that no officials had come forward to support the victim’s family.

He criticised the prevailing situation in Andhra Pradesh, alleging that the state was under "Red Book" rule, and accused the suspect, Naveen, of having connections with the TDP. Jagan claimed that there were photographs of Naveen with Chandrababu Naidu and that efforts were being made to shield the accused.

After offering his condolences in Guntur, Jagan proceeded to Badvel in the YSR district, where he planned to meet the family of another victim, an intermediate student who was allegedly killed by a stalker who doused her with petrol and set her on fire.
