Goods train derails near Rajahmundry station
The incident resulted in the cancellation of nine trains and partial cancellation of two other services
RAJAHMUNDRY: A carriage of an NSG goods train derailed near Rajahmundry station in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.
According to reports, the incident occurred at 3 am at the Rajahmundry railway yard. The cause of the derailment, however, was yet to be determined.
The incident resulted in the cancellation of nine trains and partial cancellation of two other services. The freight train was carrying cars from Chennai to Kolkata when the 16th wagon derailed near Rajahmundry yard around 3 am.
According to reports, the South Central Railways (SCR) has ceased two-lane operations. All the wagons in the front and back have been cleared.
