Head constable steals pistol from station, shoots wife, kids, dies by suicide

KADAPA: A fifty-year-old Head Constable working at the two-town police station in Kadapa stole a pistol from the station on Wednesday night, reached home, shot his wife and two daughters, and ended his life.

The gruesome yet tragic incident occurred at the cooperative colony where head constable Venkateswarlu lived with his family. According to Kadap DSP Sharif, the incident occurred somewhere after midnight or during the wee hours of Thursday.

Kadapa SP Sidharth Kaushal also rushed to the spot and directed the police to shift the bodies for postmortem. Police said that the head constable might have taken the decision to end his life as he had severe financial problems.

The police, who had called the clues team for the collection of samples, said that Venkateswarlu might have shot the entire family after they fell asleep. The pistol belonging to the two-town police station was found next to Venkateswarlu.
