Home Minister Anitha Vanglapudi vows to crack down on ganja smugglers, ensure women's safety
Anitha highlighted that violence against women is a tool to instil fear and must be addressed rigorously.
AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Anitha Vangalapudi announced a firm stance against ganja smugglers and suppliers in the state, emphasising the Telugu Desam government's commitment to prioritising the safety of girl children.
Anitha highlighted that violence against women is a tool to instil fear and must be addressed rigorously. She affirmed that the TDP Government would seek the advice of women's organisations to enhance measures for women's safety.
Criticising the previous YSR Congress Party government, Anitha lamented the creation of illusions about the non-existence of the Disha Act. She assured that the current administration would take no partisan action against police officers and stressed their responsibility to bring wrongdoers to justice. Police officers have been advised by the law to work for the people, she said.
Addressing the issues faced by police officers under the previous regime, Anitha pledged that the TDP government would resolve all problems related to salaries and dues. She revealed plans to reform the police department from the lower levels and recalled a past incident where an atrocity case was filed against her by the police. She accused many IPS officers of acting as stooges for Jagan and the YSRCP, leading to a loss of respect for the police over the last five years.
The Home Minister clarified that the new TDP regime would work to restore the respect of IPS and police officers. But she also warned them to adhere strictly to the law. She urged the police to disregard officials still influenced by YSRCP ideologies and to take firm action against those committing injustices.
