NEW DELHI: In a big shocker to the multi-crore skill scam accused former Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, his quash petition could not be heard by a Supreme Court Bench bench comprising Justices Sanjiv Khanna and SVN Bhatti on Wednesday as Justice SVN Bhatti, who hails from Andhra Pradesh, recused from hearing his plea.

With the Supreme Court going on vacation till October 2, Naidu’s counsel and senior Supreme Court advocate Harish Salve urged Justice Khanna to direct the matter to come up on Monday.

Justice Khanna then said that the Court could take up the hearing only next week and not on Monday as desired by Naidu’s counsel “Not Monday, l say next week. That's the earliest. The processing itself will take some time,” Justice Khanna said.

Earlier, Justice Khanna announced: “My brother (SVN Bhatti ) has some reservations about hearing the matter,” about which Harish Salve said that he had no choice but to ask for an early date. At this juncture, Naidu's advocate Sidharth Luthra proposed that he could mention the development in front of the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud.

“You can do that if you can do it. Should we pass it over?” Justice Khanna asked. Luthra said that passing over might not help if Justice Bhatti was not inclined to hear it.
