VIJAYAWADA: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) National General Secretary Nara Lokesh submitted a representation to Andhra Pradesh Governor S Abdul Nazeer about ganja menace in every nook and corner of the State. Lokesh, along with Legislative Council Former Chairperson M A Sharif, former ministers Nakka Ananda Babu and Kollu Ravindra, called on Abdul Nazeer at Raj Bhavan in Vijayawada on Saturday.

In his representation to the Governor, Lokesh said that as per the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) report, Andhra Pradesh occupied the top place in the supply of drugs and that ganja seized across the country had links with the State. "Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has turned Andhra Pradesh into a ganja capital of India," he alleged.

Lokesh added that recently hawala transactions were also busted in the State leading to a negative impact on the State's economy. "A detailed investigation should be conducted and stern action should be initiated against those responsible. Drug supply in Andhra Pradesh is being carried out with the involvement of YSRCP leaders and even several of them have been arrested in drug production and smuggling," he said.

“In the last four years, there have been several instances of youth enganging in brawls under the influence of drugs in the State. The drug supply here has also left its impact on the youth and their careers,” Lokesh alleged.
