MLC Shaikh Sabji booked for facilitating Tirumala darshan with fake Aadhaar cards
A case was registered against MLC Sheikh Sabji hailing from Eluru for his alleged involvement in facilitating Tirumala darshan to devotees with fake Aadhaar cards through his recommendation letters
TIRUMALA: A case was registered against MLC Shaikh Sabji hailing from Eluru for his alleged involvement in facilitating Tirumala darshan to devotees with fake Aadhaar cards through his recommendation letters. The action was initiated based on a complaint lodged by the vigilance officials of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
The TTD officials, who found that MLC Shaikh Sabji was frequently visiting Tirumala, informed the vigilance officials who in turn probed the matter. The vigilance officials in their investigation confirmed that MLC Shaikh Sabji had allegedly issued 19 darshan recommendation letters in a month to devotees.
It is also found that the MLC had issued letters to the devotees of other states and was allegedly involved in creating fake Aadhaar cards for these devotees to have break darshan. The MLC has allegedly collected a sum of Rs 1,05,000 in exchange for this favour through his car driver. The police have registered a case against the MLC based on a complaint lodged by the TTD vigilance officials.
The TTD vigilance officials are taking steps to eliminate the scope for middlemen regarding the issuance of darshan tokens and have arrested many fraudsters duping gullible people.
