VIJAYAWADA: The monsoon session of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly is likely to commence from September 21, 2023.

According to Government sources, the session is expected to be held for five days starting from September 21, though it is yet to be confirmed by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). The upcoming Assembly session has gained prominence as the State Government is likely to introduce a regularisation of contract employees bill.

There is also a possibility of introducing a bill related to the Guaranteed Pension Scheme (GPS) that the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Government wants to bring to the Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) employees. In a recent meeting, the employees asked for some changes to the proposal made by the Government.

Based on the decision by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the ministerial sub-committee will once again meet the employee unions representatives to finalise the changes. The Government is gearing up to complete the procedures at the earliest to introduce the bill related to GPS in the upcoming session.

Apart from this, the Government will also introduce bills related to some ordinances and new bills in the upcoming session. YS Jagan will hold a special meeting with Government and party leaders on Thursday regarding the course of action to be followed in the monsoon session. Meanwhile, YS Jagan will chair the cabinet meeting at the Secretariat in Velagapudi on September 20,2023.
