Nara Lokesh appears before AP CID in IRR case, questioning to continue on Wednesday

AMARAVATI: TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh appeared before the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigating Department (CID) on Tuesday for questioning in connection with the Amaravati Inner Ring Road (IRR) alignment case at their Kunchanapalli office. The CID will continue questioning Lokesh on Wednesday at 10 am.

Nara Lokesh, who was accused (A14) in the IRR case, arrived at the designated office at 10 am on Tuesday and the questioning went on for almost seven hours with a break for lunch.

The CID called Lokesh for questioning to ascertain his role in changing the alignment of the IRR to favour a few people close to the then Government. They also questioned the TDP leader and former minister on his role in acquiring lands in Mangalagiri, Tullur and Tadepalli for the Heritage Foods dairy company when he was a director in that company owned by Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s family.

Giving details of the questioning, Lokesh said that the CID asked 50 questions and he answered all the answers. “Out of the 50 questions only one was about the IRR, all the others were about Heritage,” he said adding that they would have rather searched google for answers.

Alleging a witch hunt by the YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Government to keep his father Nara Chandrababu Naidu and himself away from the people, Lokesh said that the party would face the ensuing elections with confidence despite persecution by the Government.

“In 2019 there were no cases against me and today the Government slapped 23 cases on me, the ministers even said that they will arrest my mother Bhuvaneswari, and wife Brahmani,” he said.

Lokesh said that he urged the CID team that questioned him to finish the questioning today but they wanted him to appear again on Wednesday.
