Nara Lokesh laments 'harassment' of Chandra Babu Naidu by YS Jagan

AMARAVATI: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) general secretary Nara Lokesh has come down heavily on the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) Government for harassing TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu and his family by foisting false cases.

For the first time, the TDP’s State executive committee meeting was held at the party central office near Mangalagiri in Guntur district on Saturday in the absence of Chandrababu Naidu. The latter is in jail in a multi-crore scam in AP Skill Development Corporation.

Addressing the party cadre after chairing the meeting, an emotional Lokesh said that his father Naidu always worked for the welfare of people in Andhra Pradesh. He described Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy as a ‘betrayer’ and contended that ‘once chance’ given to him by the people in 2019 proved to be disastrous for Andhra Pradesh.

“The destruction in the State began with demolition of the Government owned building, Praja Vedika, and continued to go on even after 52 months of coming into power. YS Jagan is solely responsible for the severe financial crisis and chaos in the State as his misrule ruined the development of all sectors,” Lokesh said. He alleged that YS Jagan was misusing the police and registering false cases against TDP workers who were on social media against the YSRCP Government.

Taking a jibe at the Chief Minister for his inefficiency in bringing industries and employment to youth in the State, Lokesh claimed that Jagan Mohan Reddy had utterly failed in bringing new investments to the State. He added that several reputed companies backed out from investing in the State in the last four-and-a-half years.

“Why is Naidu kept in jail, despite bringing in welfare schemes to the people apart from industries, investments and employment to youth? What’s wrong in questioning the YSRCP Government which has failed to release a job calendar, remunerative price for farmers and complete the ongoing irrigation projects in the State? Especially because of the inordinate delay in the completion of Polavaram project, the lifeline of the State,” Lokesh said.

Launching a scathing attack on YS Jagan, Lokesh said that his mother Nara Bhuvaneswari never took part in any Government programmes during the TDP regime and now cases were registered against her. Even the YSRCP MLAs made personal remarks about Bhuvaneswari in the Assembly, which was highly deplorable, he said. “My mother doesn’t know politics, except doing service-oriented activities. She didn’t even visit Raj Bhavan,” Lokesh added.

The TDP general secretary also said that he was shocked to hear the allegations made by the YSRCP leaders that his mother Bhuvaneswari and his wife Nara Brahmani went to jail to kill Naidu by providing him with poisoned food. “Mixing poison in food and Kodi Kathi dramas are not in our DNA. We will continue the spirit given by Naidu and fight for the well-being of the people in the State,” Lokesh said.
