“No women will be disrespected under my watch,” Chandrababu Naidu recalls YCP MLAs vulgar language against his wife
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the previous Government has destroyed the traditions of the Legislative Assembly with perverted trends.
AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said that the previous Government has destroyed the traditions of the Legislative Assembly with perverted trends.
He said this addressing the house on Saturday after Chintakayala Ayyanna Patrudu took charge as the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Chandrababu Naidu said that opposition members were not allowed to speak on the issues in the House. “When questioned about the Government's failures, I was attacked in the House and insulted in a nasty manner,” he said.
"I was elected nine times as MLA. I have been Chief Minister for 14 years and leader of the opposition for 15 years. A bomb was hurled at me in Tirupati and I did not shed any tears that day. But when YCP legislators spoke ill of my wife, who had nothing to do with the House or politics, I felt bad. Every girl who lives with dignity in the state has been subjected to vulgar posts on social media. Many women wept inconsolably. People thought that such people, leaders, and the party were bad for the state and made us win. I will not let anyone else suffer the humiliation meted out to me and the women of the state in the past,” Naidu said.
He said that he owed his life to the people of Andhra Pradesh. “If I am born again, I will repay the loan by taking birth on Telugu soil. People came from America to vote in the last election. The poor who went to other states for employment also came and voted. They came in response to a call given by the NDA to save AP. This House should be the venue for such discussions and programmes, "he said.
The Chief Minister said that he took a vow on November 19, 2022, to return only after the honour of the Assembly was restored. “People understood my humiliation and blessed me with a full heart. Now, with the blessings of the people and all of you, I have entered the Assembly as the Chief Minister. "Chandrababu Naidu said.
Pawan knows when to lay low
Chandrababu Naidu said that in the 2019 elections, the TDP won 23 seats, but the NDA now won 164 seats. “For 1631 days, there was a movement in Amaravati for the capital. These numbers add up to 11. The YCP could only win 11 seats. But their leader said that they would not allow Pawan Kalyan to enter the gates of the Assembly. Pawan’s party contested 21 seats and won all the 21,” Naidu said. “Pawan Kalyan knows when to lay low and when to fight,” he pointed out.
The capital has to be built
Stating that the Government policies should change people's lives, the Chief Minister said that the legislators must pass such laws. “PV Narasimha Rao introduced economic reforms in India. Taking the example of the reforms introduced by him, we have brought many reforms to the erstwhile AP. Today India is the fifth largest economy in the world and in the next four to five years it will become the third largest economy. We want a developed India by 2047,” he said.
He called for healthy debates on the floor of the house. “One should move with decency without abuses and misbehaviour in the house. Stalwarts like Tanguturi Prakasam Pantulu, Meturi Hanumantha Rao, MG Ranga, Kaleswara Rao, and Kasani Venkataratnam represented the Assembly. NTR is the man of the era who created history. I believe that the spirit of the Constitution will prevail, democracy will be protected and this House will run smoothly, “ the CM said.
He said that his Government was committed to building the capital and completing Polavaram. “Rivers have to be connected and investment has to come. Youth need jobs. To achieve these goals, the House should be run smoothly. I wish that the House under your leadership takes steps to make AP the number one state in the world, to make it a poverty-free state, and to reduce economic disparities,” Naidu said.
