Pullela Gopichand, Karnam Malleswari recipients of Dr YSR Awards-2023
YS Jagan would present the awards on November 1, 2023 coinciding with AP Formation Day
AMARAVATI: Badminton coach Pullela Gopichand and former Indian weightlifter Karnam Malleswari are one among those recipients selected for Dr YSR Achievement Awards-2023, according to the list finalised by the high-power screening committee on Dr YSR Lifetime Achievement and Dr YSR Achievement Awards-2023.
Disclosing the details before media at AP Secretariat on Thursday, Advisor to Government (Communications), GVD Krishna Mohan said that Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy approved the committee’s recommendations to present 23 YSR LifeTime Achievement Awards and four YSR Achievement Awards. YS Jagan would present the awards on November 1, 2023 coinciding with AP Formation Day, he said.
Krishna Mohan said that the selection was made based on their exceptional contribution to the fields like agriculture, arts and culture, Telugu language and literature, sports, medical and health, media and social service, he said, and added that the selected institutions and individuals excelled in their respective spheres and contributed to the overall development of the society.
Krishna Mohan also said that Dr YSR Lifetime Achievement Award included a cash prize of Rs. 10 lakh, a bronze figurine of Dr. YSR, a souvenir and a commendation letter while a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh, a souvenir and commendation letter were awarded under the Dr. YSR Achievement Award. The awards were being given for the third successive year, he added.
