VISAKHAPATNAM: The traditional sandalwood paste preparation ceremony was held at Simhadri Appanna Temple near Visakhapatnam on Sunday with fervour, as part of Simhachalam Chandanostsavam 2023.
The Visvakshenaradhan and Punyahavachanam rituals were performed to the presiding deity after the morning service, followed by special puja for the preparation of the sandalwood paste.
Later, chief priests Srinivasacharya and Sthanacharya, the executive officer and the trust members formally launched the preparation of sandalwood paste.
On the occasion of Vaisakh Shuddha Thadiya on April 23, the priests will offer to the deity 450-kg sandalwood paste after conducting the Chandanotsavam. During the course of the next four days, another 450 kgs of sandalwood paste will also be offered to the Lord, including on the full moon, Jyeshtha and Ashada full moon days. The devotees participated in the ceremony in large numbers.
