Special PMLA court in Vizag admits ED case on two red sanders smugglers
Multiple FIRs against R. Selvaraj and others were registered by A.P. Police under various Acts, and ongoing investigation is ongoing
VISAKHAPATNAM: The Directorate of Enforcement has filed a Prosecution Complaint under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 against habitual red Sanders smugglers R. Selvaraj, M/s Sanjana Metalware India Pvt. Ltd., P. Vishnu Anand and D. L. Madhusudhan before the Special PMLA Court, Visakhapatnam on Tuesday.
The Court has taken cognizance of the Prosecution Complaint. The ED has launched an investigation into the alleged possession and smuggling of red sandalwood, based on a FIR registered by the Narayanavanam police station, Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh Police under various sections of IPC, Wildlife Protection Act, Biological Diversity Act and Arms Act.

The ED investigation revealed that R. Selvaraj is a frequent offender involved in smuggling red sanders and other criminal activities, generating substantial proceeds of crime.
The proceeds of crime were invested by him in acquiring several properties in his name and in the name of his family members' along with his family-owned company - M/s Sanjana Metalware India Pvt. Ltd.
The other accused persons knowingly assisted R. Selvaraj in the concealment and possession of property acquired out of proceeds of crime and in projecting the same as untainted.
The ED attached properties movable and immovable properties worth Rs. 2.74 Crore belonging to R. Selvaraj, his family, and M/s Sanjana Metalware India Pvt. Ltd. in March 2022, confirmed by the Adjudicating Authority, Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002(PMLA) in September 2022.
